Mom's Baking Powder Biscuits

MOM'S BAKING POWDER BISCUITS

INGREDIENTS:

2c flour
2t baking powder
1t salt
1/2 t soda
1-2T sugar
1/2 c. shortening, softened
2/3c milk

DIRECTIONS:

Mix dry ingredients in medium bowl.

Cut in shortening until the pieces of butter are the size of peas or smaller.  I like to just use my hand to mix - but you can use a fork too  (or, if you're very fancy and have one, a pastry blender thingger).

Then add the milk and stir just until combined.  The more you stir the tougher the biscuits will be.  You might need to add more milk o make a sticky, dough.  Once it is mixed, drop by spoonful on to a baking sheet.  I'm a parchment paper junkie since I don't like to wash pans, but you can bake these babies on anything.

Either drop directly on to baking sheet, or roll out and cut into desired shape.  Bake at 350F until lightly golden and firm.
