Pear Almond Tart

Can you tell it is finally pear season here in Iowa?  This is one of my all-time favorite desserts.  It can be made with pears or apples, or, I'm sure, whatever other kind of fruit you can imagine.  Buttery and rich, it is still not-too-sweet, and just plain perfect.  Personally, I like to eat it chilled from the refrigerator, but it is also delicious fresh out of the oven.
